How to achieve sustainable water ecosystems management connecting research, people and policy makers in Europe project logo

Title How to achieve sustainable water ecosystems management connecting research, people and policy makers in Europe
Description In recent years there has been a growing concern about the difficulties of effectively translating research knowledge to policies and decision making at various levels (EU, Members States, regional and local scale). The AWARE project aims to develop a new approach to enhance connectivity between research and policy making for sustainable development of water ecosystems. The concept and objectives of the project are discussed with the following sequence:

•State of the art of the science-policy interface; •Sustainable development and management of water ecosystems; •Existing body of EU research; •EU policy framework and existing mechanisms to connect research and policy in relation to sustainable development of water ecosystems; •The AWARE concept; •The AWARE objectives; •The AWARE pilot case study contexts.
